Special Focus

LINCS Support Group for WomenA small group for women who have experienced trauma and are looking for a safe, supportive atmosphere where they can learn some ways to cope with present day symptoms.  This group is offered as part of the LINCS program, an outpatient community-based trauma treatment program.

Parenting Education & Support Group This 6 week group is for moms, dads, grandparents, foster parents, and guardians – anyone parenting a child. The group will focus upon understanding children’s behaviors, actions, words, and feelings. Participants will learn about why children act out, shut down, or misbehave. Parenting styles and responding effectively and taking care of oneself will be discussed. There will be presentations, discussion, activities, encouragement, support and snacks!  Pre-registration required.

Women’s Recovery GroupThis group will provide support for those going through the daily ups and downs of recovering from alcohol or drug addiction.  The group will help members develop sober skills for a sober lifestyle, and will provide encouragement, relationship building and FUN!

1234 Parent! A three-part workshop that focuses on the Active Parenting Method which emphasizes open communication and how to raise confident, cooperative children. Topics include:

- how to discipline your child without violence;

Rocking Horse is a health education support program for parenting mothers who are questioning their own use of alcohol and drugs or who are experiencing the effects of another's substance using behaviors.
This 10 week group program is led by a substance abuse professional and a maternal child specialist. This is not a treatment group, but rather a support group. Childcare available, and help with transportation is also available.

Substance abuse in the family

Belly Busters for Mothers

Belly Busters is an eight-week, hour-long strength and exercise class held outdoors (with an indoor rain-date location) for mothers, co-led by a certified personal trainer and a mental health clinician.  Physical exercise will meet the needs of each member, and focus on building an exercise and health routine – and friendships -- that will last.  Members will receive weekly motivational and health messages via social media, as well as resources/support for parenting as requested.

Becoming a Mother This is an open support group for new mothers, facilitated by a mental health clinician.   The group uses discussion, movement, art and music together.  Childcare is not provided but mothers often bring their infants.

How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk   A six-week course in concrete parenting skills such as:

-Communication with kids;

-Engaging kids’ willing cooperation;

-Disciplining without hurting; and

-Fostering love and respect in families.
