What Happened with the Email List?

Recently the company that supplies NASW-VT with email, supports our website, and maintains our Listserv made changes to their Listserv program without informing us of the change or the implications of the change . Basically the change permitted anyone on the list to reply (and this would automatically be a Reply-All).

Those of you who use vacation and other out-of-office automatic replies thus were perceived as a reply and everyone got your response. As soon as anyone else responded to notify us, complain, or explain, those emails went to everyone again, compounding the problem. There does not appear to be any virus involved in this situation.

Although pShift has promised a fix this week, we will not use the Listserv until we have tested it and feel absolutely certain we will not have a repeat avalanche.

I apologize for the inconvenience this problem caused for many of you. For now, I have not removed anyone’s name from the email list, even though some requested this.

If, after the problem is fixed, you still wish to be removed from the list (this means you will receive no communication from NASW-VT about Chapter activities and policy issues), please send an email to me directly:

rmurray@naswvt.org

You will still get email communications from National unless you go to www.socialworkers.org and update your profile, eliminating your email address.
