Tell Senate: Advance Health & Opportunity for New Americans in Immigration Reform

The U.S. Senate has introduced its bill for immigration reform. The official title of the bill is the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S. 744).  While the bill begins to address the many injustices in our immigration system, one of the more significant concerns is that it denies access to health care and family economic supports many of those seeking citizenship. In particular, currently there are about 12 million undocumented individuals residing in the United States.  Full article

On Oct. 1, the state is slated to open the doors to Vermont Health Connect, Vermont’s new health insurance marketplace.

Three months later, on Jan. 1, 2014, the web-based exchange will become the sole insurance marketplace for an estimated 118,000 Vermonters, who purchase individual plans or work for businesses with 50 or fewer employees. At that time, the state subsidized health insurance programs Catamount and VHAP will end, and the low-income working Vermonters who use these programs would see major cost hikes without new subsidies. Free Q & A Sessions on Private Practice

SAVE THE DATES

You’re invited to spend an hour with us each month through August to discuss timely topics affecting your work. “An Hour With Private Practice” is a monthly call-in question-and-answer session focused on a specific private practice subject. Callers can join in the discussion, ask questions, and comment. These sessions will provide you with important clinical social work updates affecting the delivery of mental health services.

Sessions are limited to the first 100 callers on the day of the event. Registration is not required. “An Hour With Private Practice” is held every third Wednesday of each month 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm ET.
